‘Santa’ gets stuck 60 feet up on side of building and needs rescue, CT firefighters say
A man wearing a Santa Claus costume was rescued from the side of a 13-story building, Connecticut officials said.
On Dec. 7, the man was rappelling down the building at the Norwalk Holiday Extravaganza, according to a news release by firefighters.
His costume got entangled in the rigging, and he got stuck 60-feet above ground, firefighters said.
Firefighters said they were notified and got to the scene to perform a “technical rescue assignment.”
Thirteen firefighters helped with the rescue mission, they said.
Rescuers were able to make contact with the man through a sixth-floor window, firefighters said.
A safety line was then attached to the man, and he was “anchored to the inside of the building” before rescuers removed the window and brought him inside, firefighters said.
Norwalk is about a 70-mile drive southwest of Hartford.
