‘Heartbroken’ dog was emaciated and living among trash. Biscuit needs a home
A dog who was rescued from a cruel environment is now a different pup after a Philadelphia shelter stepped in and saved his life.
Biscuit, a terrier, pit bull mix, whose age is unknown, is safe in a foster home right now, but before he was rescued, he was living in nightmare conditions.
“When we first met Biscuit he was emaciated and living (among) nothing but trash,” the Pennsylvania SPCA said in a Nov. 22 Facebook post. “Left outside in the harshest conditions, he had no food, no water, and nothing or no one to call home. Until we arrived.”
The shelter, along with Animal Law Enforcement, rescued the pup and immediately got to work to assess his health.
“Upon arrival, every bone stuck out from under Biscuit’s dirty coat. He was covered in fleas. He was heartbroken,” the shelter continued. “Our staff worked quickly, giving needed medication, starting a refeeding program to bring him back to a healthy weight, and to open his heart back up once again.”
He’s doing much better now.
“Today, Biscuit is already a different dog. With the dedicated care of all of our teams, he is finally receiving the love, nourishment, and medical attention he so desperately needed. His tail wags with joy and his eyes now sparkle with hope,” the shelter continued. “He is safe, healthy, and most importantly—happy.”
According to his pet profile, Biscuit has an undying love for humans and is quick to show it.
“Making friends hasn’t been difficult for Biscuit with his charming smile and witty personality. You can often find (him) in somebody’s lap around the shelter or attending one of our off-site events!” his profile said.
While loving humans is easy for Biscuit, he would prefer to be the only pet in his new home because he needs his space.
