Rapper known for ‘Baby Shark’ remix shot and killed, Ohio cops say. ‘Kind-hearted soul’

A rapper famous for a TikTok viral remix to the children’s song “Baby Shark” was shot and killed, Ohio police said.

Michael Robinson, known as Ralan Styles by music lovers, died from gunshot wounds in Columbus, Ohio, around 5 a.m. on Oct. 19, according to police and Robinson’s record label Big Money Records.

Columbus police said they were called to the location for an “unknown type of complaint” and were later told it was a “rapid SOS” call. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by a person who took them to Robinson.

They found that the 22-year-old rapper had suffered a gunshot wound, according to police records. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not provide information on what led to the fatal shooting.

The rapper was from Tallahassee, Florida, according to the Tallahassee Democrat, and rose to fame on TikTok with 1.2 million followers.

“Michael was not just an incredible talent but also a kind-hearted soul who poured his heart into every song he made for his fans,” Big Money Records said in an Oct. 19 Instagram post. “He touched many lives through his music, and his legacy will live on through the beats and lyrics he created.”

Mahamood Hassan, 24, was arrested on a murder charge on Oct. 21, according to jail records.

Hassan is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 29.
