A rideshare driver accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl was arrested in Texas, authorities say.

The driver, identified by the Plano Police Department as 31-year-old Robert Johnson III, was arrested July 15 following the incident six days prior, police said.

The 12-year-old girl told her mother July 10 about the alleged assault and a police report was then filed, officers said in a July 22 news release.

Johnson, who WFAA and KTVT reported was driving for Uber, had picked up the unaccompanied child in Frisco and later pulled to the side of the road in Plano, where he sexually assaulted her, according to police.

Police said a warrant was issued July 12 when a judge “found there to be sufficient probable cause to issue a warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child.”

Officers have asked any additional possible victims to contract police at 972-941-2044.

“This monstrous behavior has no place in our society or on the Uber platform,” Uber said in a statement to WAA and KTVT. “We take reports of this nature very seriously, and have permanently banned the driver. We have been in touch with the Plano Police Department regarding their investigation.”
