Body found in car in search for missing woman, Oregon cops say. Now fiance arrested
UPDATE: A body found inside a car in Washington has been confirmed to be that of a missing Oregon woman, deputies said.
Jeannie Enyeart’s body was found inside her car, which was found “stuck in a snow berm” in Stevenson on Jan. 29, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said in a Feb. 7 Facebook post.
Enyeart’s fiance was arrested Feb. 5 in connection with her death, Portland Police Bureau said.
“Difficult decisions were made to withhold details in the case as our sole mission was to obtain justice for Ms. Enyeart,” Sheriff Summer Scheyer said in the post. “Many details have yet to be released, as this investigation is on-going.”

A missing woman is now presumed dead after a body was found inside a car, and her fiance has been arrested, Oregon police say.
Jeannie Enyeart, 47, was last seen by her neighbors on Saturday, Jan. 27, the Portland Police Bureau said in a Jan. 30 news release.
Two days later, her car was found crashed in Skamania County, Washington, about 75 miles northeast of Portland, police said.
A woman’s body was found inside a car in Skamania County on Feb. 1, police said. In an email to McClatchy News, a Portland Police Bureau spokesperson said they were not able to confirm whether the car with the woman’s body was Enyeart’s car “out of respect for the investigation.”
Four days after the body was found, Enyeart’s fiance, Jon French, 33, was arrested, police said. He is facing a second-degree murder charge.
The medical examiner’s office ruled the woman died from “homicidal violence,” police said.
Though the body has not been identified, police said they believe it is Enyeart.
Kristin Enyeart, Enyeart’s sister, told KGW she had “a beautiful soul.”
“She’s always been the one to keep our family together, and always try to keep our family together,” Kristin Enyeart told the outlet.
Enyeart’s mother, Helen Eskelson, told KATU her daughter had always been a caring person.
“She had a gift to help care for and nurture family, and that was just her disposition,” Eskelson told the outlet.
