A grandfather sleeping inside his Phoenix home died when an SUV slammed into the house and pinned him underneath, Arizona news outlets reported.

A silver Kia crashed into the home at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, killing a 66-year-old man inside, police told AZ Family.

The man, identified by news outlets as Jose Martinez Aguirre, was found pinned beneath the vehicle and later died of his injuries at a hospital, KSAZ reported. Family members sleeping upstairs heard the crash and ran to check on him.

No one else was hurt, according to the station.
