A woman blacked out dangling in mid-air after plunging 20 feet while rappelling near Smith Rock State Park, Oregon rescuers reported.

Other climbers heard her partner calling for help and rushed to her rescue at Brogan Spire at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The other climbers moved the injured woman to a ledge and called 911, the release said.

Rescue teams lowered the woman 50 feet to the ground, then carried her 600 feet down a steep slope and another 600 feet to a canal, the release said.

Redmond Fire and Rescue used a raft to carry her across the canal to a waiting ambulance, which took her to a hospital, officials said.

Smith Rock State Park is about 25 miles northeast of Bend, which is 175 miles southeast of Portland.
