Waterfront chateau with stunning views sells in Washington for $22.7M. Take a look

An extraordinarily gorgeous chateau on its own private peninsula in Bellevue, Washington has sold for $22.7 million.

The chateau, near Seattle, was originally listed for $23.7 million.

Château de Chêne was designed by architect Donald Whittaker, who specializes in plans for legacy homes, Architecture Social said. It was built by former Bellevue Mayor Richard Foreman and his wife Diane, Mansion Global reported.

The 5-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom home was only on the market for 50 days before it was sold, the listing says.

The chateau is spread across 8,160 square feet and Mansion Global reports that has an abundance of high-end amenities including:

  • Breakfast bar

  • Gardens

  • Wine cellar

  • Security system

  • Wet bar

  • Spa/hot tub

  • Marble, stone and hardwood flooring

  • Built in vacuum system

  • Four fireplaces

The Mediterranean property also occupies 336 feet — a little longer than a football field — of Lake Washington waterfront and has two docks, Geek Wire noted.

“The house is meticulously constructed from the finest classical materials, including limestone window and door casings, hand-carved stone archways and architectural details, natural stucco exterior wall surfaces, and highly detailed custom millwork,” Geek Wire said.

“Although Château de Chêne presents an impressive scale and grandeur, its carefully construed relationship to its surroundings allows it to settle into the landscape and topography in a manner that is both relaxed and organic, creating an effortless sense of permanence and grace.”

The listing was held by Jay Kipp of of Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty.
