Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins dies on tour. See their last concert in Fresno
Fans of the alternative band Foo Fighters and the rock and roll world Saturday mourned the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins, who was found dead a short time before the band was to play a concert in Bogotá, Colombia.
Hawkins, the Foo Fighters drummer since 1997, was 50.
The Foo Fighters performed in Fresno at the Save Mart Center in December, ending the band’s 2021 tour.
Authorities in the Colombian capital said emergency workers were sent to a hotel were Hawkins was staying in response to a report of a patient with chest pain. Health workers tried to revive Hawkins, but were unable to do so.
The Foo Fighters were scheduled to play at Festival Estéreo Pacific, where fans who heard the news of Hawkins’ death placed candles on the stage.
Band members call his death a “tragic and untimely loss.”
The Colombian newspaper El Espectador quoted a band statement that said, “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragedy of beloved Taylor Hawkins’ death. Our hearts are with his wife, children, and family. We ask for privacy in this moment of unimaginable difficulty.”
