Demolition begins on Tuolumne Street bridge in downtown Fresno

Crews for J. Kroeker Demolition, using Bobcats fitted with jackhammers, began their work Tuesday chipping away at the Tuolumne Street bridge in downtown Fresno.

The bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks is being demolished and will be replaced by a bridge with higher clearance to accommodate California’s high-speed train project.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority expects the new bridge will be completed by the end of 2016.
