Rail agency, contractor set open house for Thursday
The California High-Speed Rail Authority and contractor Tutor Perini/Zachry/Parsons will host an open house Thursday for the public to learn more about the first construction segment from Fresno to Madera.
The open house will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the La Quinta Inn & Suites at 5077 N. Cornelia Ave., in the Highway City neighborhood of northwest Fresno near Shaw Avenue and Highway 99. Representatives of the rail agency and the contracting team will provide information and answers about the train route through Fresno, right-of-way acquisition, and business opportunities working on the project.
Tutor Perini/Zachry/Parsons won a contract of about $1 billion in June 2013 to design and build the first 29-mile section of the statewide bullet-train route between the south end of Fresno and the northeast edge of Madera. To date, major construction has yet to begin, but some buildings along the route have been demolished and crews have been working to relocate underground utilities in downtown Fresno to prepare for construction.
More details on the open house are available online at http://hsr.ca.gov/docs/programs/construction/CP1_Open_House_052815.pdf
