3 Valley students earn scholarships from Golden 1 Credit Union

Cameron Ferraro, a graduate of Central High School East in Fresno, Hanford High School graduate Emma Van Fossen, and Lexie Schultz, a graduate of Riverdale High School, are among 38 students statewide who are receiving more than $400,000 in scholarships from the Sacramento-based Golden 1 Credit Union.

Ferraro, who grew up as a foster child and leveraged that background as motivation to succeed, will attend Clovis Community College and plans to earn a business degree at University of California, Davis.

Van Fossen will attend Fresno State to study engineering in hopes of joining a worldwide service organization to help communities develop basic infrastructure to fill water and sanitation needs.

Schultz, whose family has farmed in the Riverdale area for 130 years, will study agribusiness and biology at Fresno State, where her mother, father and sister also went to college.
