High school students hoping to receive a scholarship from Fresno Unified School District this year must submit their applications by Friday, the school district says.
Students who have not submitted their application to the Fresno Unified Scholarship Fund can download a copy from the Fresno Unified website or pick one up from their high school counselor, the district said.
Last year, 42 scholarships totaling $57,000 were awarded, according to the district. Recipients overcame challenges, such as the loss of parents and homelessness, while achieving academic success.
The 2016 scholarship fund application was launched at the same time the district initiated its “I Am Ready” citywide campaign to encourage the entire community to work toward a 100 percent graduation rate.
The scholarship fund is supported by Fresno Unified employees and community contributions. Donations can be made through the district website.
