Dance, song fill Fresno’s Gaston Middle School in kickoff to Black History Month

The Gaston Middle School Black Student Union hosted assemblies Wednesday to kick off Black History Month activities at the Fresno Unified campus.

Black Student Union leaders worked with Gaston students from choir, drama, band, art and after-school programs, as well as student leadership and King Elementary School, to plan a series of cultural events. The assemblies included a performance of the “Black National Anthem,” a re-enactment of the Birmingham church bombing and other historical and cultural information.

The Black Student Union aims to provide culturally rich activities and experiences on African-American heritage to the Gaston student body.
