Central High plans events to mark anti-hate campaign

Central High School is hosting two events this week and next through a school campaign, “Start a chain reaction: Link together to stop hate.”

The high school will host Rachel’s Challenge, a program to teach tolerance and acceptance that was created by friends and family of Rachel Joy Scott, who died in the Columbine High School shootings. On Thursday, performer Neil McIntyre will speak at student assemblies at 9 a.m. on the west campus, 11:20 a.m. on the east campus, and at a community event at 6 p.m. in the east campus Performing Arts Center.

On Feb. 3 and 4, 10th grade Modern History students will present a Genocide Remembrance Museum to honor victims of genocide in room 807 at the Central High East campus. The museum will be open to students from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 4 and to the community from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 3.

The east campus is at 3535 N. Cornelia Ave., and the west campus is at 2045 N. Dickenson Ave.
