Edison High School student earns perfect score on SAT
Senior Zain Sherriff has had a busy schedule during his last three years at Edison High School.
He’s played clarinet in the Youth Orchestra of Fresno, competed on the Edison High Academic Decathlon team and ran cross country his junior and senior years, all while keeping straight As with a grade point average of 4.32.
This last November, he tackled one of the biggest challenges of high school yet – the SAT – and succeeded. Sherriff earned a perfect 2400, and now with the college applications quickly approaching, he is looking at a number of universities.
His twin brother, Rumi, earned a 2330 SAT score and also ran cross country and plays the trumpet with the Youth Orchestra. Rumi has been accepted to Columbia University.
Both brothers also performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in June with the Fresno Summer Academy Orchestra.
Zain and Rumi’s grandfather, Rick von Geldern, is proud of both his grandsons. Few students earn a perfect score, he said, and both young men worked hard to get there.
“What I find most amazing about these young men is that they are extraordinarily well balanced, hard working, grounded and well-mannered,” von Geldern said. “Zain has accomplished what few students do – a perfect SAT score!”
