Fresno-area 5th-grade classes win field trips to San Joaquin River
Students from about a dozen fifth-grade classes will now have an opportunity to visit the San Joaquin River thanks to $20,000 in grants from the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District board of directors.
Two local environmental education projects will also be funded through the Clean Stormwater Grant program. The program, which started in 1997, has funded 281 projects and aims to create awareness about keeping stormwater clean and protect the Valley’s water resources.
In addition to the California Wildlife Foundation, the winners are: Addams Elementary, Bakman Elementary, Calwa Elementary, Columbia Elementary, Dailey Elementary Charter, Gettysburg Elementary, Houghton-Kearney Elementary, Manchester GATE, Polk Elementary, River Bluff Elementary, Roeding Elementary, Teague Elementary, Temperance Kutner Elementary, West Fresno Elementary and Yokomi Elementary schools.
