Tehipite Middle School wins grant to educate students

Tehipite Middle School received a $5,000 grant from the Isnardi Foundation to support cultural activities planned to help educate students.

The grant will help students that qualify as Steve’s Scholars, a scholarship program based on academic grades, attendance, community service and completing college preparatory courses.

Fifty students will travel to the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles to learn about prejudices in today’s society.

The grant will also teach the students about basic techniques in acting, voice and dance as well as costume and scenic design.

Theater professionals from Good Company Players will also talk to students about public speaking, mock college and job interviews and audience etiquette.

Steve’s Scholars students from Tehipite who fulfill the requirements through 12th grade and graduate from Fresno Unified School District high schools will receive scholarships for up to two years of college.
