Visalia high school named ‘21st Century Learning Exemplar’

Visalia Technical Early College (VTEC) High School was named a 21st Century Learning Exemplar by P21, an educational organization that advocates for 21st century learning for every student.

VTEC High School was selected along with 17 other schools and 2 districts as part of a nationwide initiative identifying models of exemplary 21st century learning practices that are preparing students for success across the country.

The program is in its fourth year and it shares case studies of schools and districts that have successfully transformed student learning through innovative and transformative practices that include collaborative teaching and learning, distributed leadership, student voice and more.

VTEC High School enrolls its 9-12 grade students in specific college and career prep programs of their choice.

“We feel so honored to be recognized for this award,” says Vicki Porter, principal of VTEC High School. “It represents the culmination of our college and career ready focus for the last six years. I am so proud of our amazing staff and students for their hard work and commitment toward the achievement of this goal.”
