Clovis Unified students attend play to learn about healthy food, exercist choices

All Clovis Unified School District third-and-fourth-grade students will learn the importance of regular exercise and healthy eating by watching a play next week put on by Kaiser Permanente’s “The Best of Me” theater production team.

The show centers on four students who struggle with making healthy choices. The play encourages students to exercise, limit their screen time and incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their diets.

Performances of the show will be held at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Monday and Tuesday at Clovis Veterans Memorial Building; 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Clovis North High’s Small Gym; and 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Clovis East High’s East Gym.

“We are so glad to have these important messages about leading healthy lives shared with our Clovis Unified students,” said Michael Fennacy, chairman of the Foundation for Clovis Schools. “Kaiser Permanente continues to be a great partner in contributing resources that help our students grow and thrive.”

The performance and theater group expenses are covered by Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre Program, Northern California. Additionally, through a $90,000 grant Kaiser Permanente awarded to the Foundation for Clovis Schools this year, bus transportation for students and facility fees will be funded.
