Visalia schools chief to take job at Tulare County Office of Ed
Visalia Unified School District Superintendent Craig Wheaton will join the Tulare County Office of Education as deputy superintendent of administrative services.
His new job begins in February.
Wheaton has been an educator for 37 years.
He served 24 years with Corcoran Unified as a high school counselor, coach and elementary school principal, and joined Visalia Unified in 2002 as director of state and federal projects and later as an area administrator.
Since July 2010, he has served as superintendent. He earned his doctorate in education from Pepperdine University in 2001.
Visalia assistant superintendent Todd Oto will serve as interim superintendent until a permanent replacement is hired.
