UCSF Fresno offers mini-medical school for the public

The UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program is hosting its fourth annual “Mini-Med School 101” lecture series Sept. 17 through Oct. 22.

Participants will learn about the medical issues and challenges that doctors encounter as they treat patients of all ages. Faculty physicians at UCSF Fresno will present comprehensive lectures covering many common issues in modern medicine as well as breakthrough advances pertinent to Valley communities.

“Mini-Med School 101” will be held for six consecutive weekly sessions on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. starting Sept. 17. Most courses will include two presentations, followed by a question-and-answer period. All lectures will be held in the auditorium at the UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research, 155 N. Fresno St. Free parking will be available in the UCSF Fresno parking lot, with access on Illinois Street.

Registration for the series is $20. Pre-registration is required and early registration is highly recommended. Seating is limited. All interested high school and college students and adults are encouraged to attend.

This year’s presentations focus on “The Human Journey in Health and Disease through All Stages of Life,” and include topics such as newborn infant care, vaccines, adolescence, dermatology and heart disease.
