Tulare school wins $1,200 garden grant

The California Fertilizer Foundation will present a $1,200 school garden grant Sept. 15 to Palo Verde Elementary School in Tulare.

The foundation’s program director, Callie Borror, will present the award at 1:30 p.m at the school, located at 9637 Avenue 196.

Each year the foundation awards grants to as many as 24 schools that either have existing student gardens or have an interest in creating them. In the second round of grants this year, eight schools were selected to receive $1,200 each.

Schools interested in applying for future garden grant funds are invited to visit www.calfertilizer.org for information and application details.
