Boy brings cap gun to Corcoran school

A boy brought a cap gun to a Corcoran elementary school this week, prompting a call to police to investigate a report of a gun on campus.

Deputy Police Chief Gary Cramer said the incident started Tuesday evening when school administrators at Mark Twain School were told by a parent that a child reported being shown a gun by a boy at school.

Police went to the boy’s home as listed in school records, but the family had moved. Wednesday, he came to school and threw the cap gun in the trash.

Police interviewed him, found the toy gun and confiscated it.

The boy’s parents were not aware their son had a cap gun, which he had found, Cramer said Thursday. The boy was counseled.
