Statewide teacher summit to focus on Common Core
Thousands of teachers across the state will meet at different locations on Friday to discuss Common Core standards and share teaching strategies and resources.
More than 400 teachers are expected to attend Fresno’s version of “Better Together: California Teachers Summit” at Fresno State.
There, local teachers Joe Marquez, Darrell Blanks and Adam Ebrahim will share their insight on how the new standards, adopted in 2010, have changed the way they lead their classrooms.
Marquez is a science teacher at Clovis Unified School District, Blanks is a professor at Fresno Pacific University and Ebrahim is an English language arts expert with the Fresno County Office of Education.
Fresno State President Joseph Castro called the summit — the first of its kind — a “unique opportunity to hear about proven best practices from nationally renowned speakers, fellow teachers and thought leaders in education.”
“The California Teachers Summit is a bold opportunity for teachers to come together to collaborate and create a better future for California students,” Castro said.
Registration for the event is full.
