Our team of education reporters in Fresno wants to hear from you. What should we cover?
The Fresno Bee’s Education Lab — also known as the Ed Lab — started in 2019. After four years that included a pandemic that drastically changed how students learn, we want to hear from you.
What are the challenges facing local education now? Is there a program that is working well or better than expected? Is someone going above and beyond to help students in the Fresno area?
We want to know: What do you think about local education? What education stories are we not telling?
We’re especially interested in language access. We previously reported about:
- Sanger Unified School District parents struggling to participate in Spanish at board meetings and how that, they said, left them uninformed about changes to school bus routes.
- A one-of-a-kind Hmong Dual Language Immersion program in southeast Fresno that launched in 2018 and is already showing social-emotional and academic benefits in students.
- Fresno Unified School District hosting its first-ever Latinx Graduation for high school students, recognizing migrant families and first-generation students during the celebration almost exclusively conducted in Spanish.
- How to request a translator at different districts in the county, and where to learn a language in the city.
