After over 100 years in print, The Collegian, Fresno State’s student newspaper, is saying goodbye to its weekly print product.

The final edition of the weekly paper will go out Tuesday, Fresno State faculty member Jim Boren confirmed.

The Collegian will publish content digitally and put the money that once went toward the print product to continue paying its student staffers.

“Next semester, we will be focusing our funds to pay the students who work hard (every day) for your campus news,” the announcement, posted on The Collegian’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts, reads.

While the weekly paper will be no more, The Collegian still plans to print two special editions a semester with highlights from the school year.

“Change does not mean the end of local, student journalism,” the post said. “We will still be your university’s independent and student-run news publication.”

The first edition of The Collegian published Feb. 8, 1922. The student paper marked its centennial celebration last year.
