A suspected natural gas leak forced a precautionary evacuation Friday at Clovis North High School, but no leak was discovered, district officials said.

Everyone inside the A Building Academic Wing, where staff reported the possible leak, was relocated to one of the school’s turf fields until cleared to return to the building, according to district spokesperson Kelly Avants.

“The A Building has been cleared by fire personnel and confirmed that no leak is present and no safety threat exists to students. At this time, classrooms 101 - 117 and 201 - 2117 are closed to allow air to circulate, and students from those classes are finishing their school day in alternate buildings on campus,” Avants said just after 2 p.m. Friday.

The rest of operations on campus are continuing as normal.
