Clovis West high school students were sent home early when construction workers at the school nicked a water line Friday morning, causing the campus to lose water pressure.

The decision was made to end the school day at lunchtime, according to school officials, as there were no working bathrooms or fire sprinklers.

Lunches were available for students as “grab and go,” and buses were expected to arrive to pick up bus riders after lunch.

“Repair work was expected to start once students were off campus and is should be completed later this afternoon,” according to district spokesperson Kelly Avants.
