Kastner Intermediate program gets special education award

The Collaborative Mentoring Program at Kastner Intermediate School in Fresno has received the 2015 Grazer Outstanding Achievement in Learning.

The GOAL award was created in the 2005-06 school year.

It was funded by Hollywood producer Brian Grazer’s family to recognize exemplary practices in special education and to celebrate programs that serve California youth with disabilities.

A $5,000 award will be presented to program representatives at a luncheon as part of the June 18 advisory commission meeting.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson congratulated the program at the California Advisory Commission on Special Education meeting held Wednesday in Sacramento.
