Porterville man found with 170 marijuana plants at home

A Porterville man was arrested Thursday with 75 pounds of processed marijuana in his home and many marijuana plants growing on the property.

Around 2:46 p.m. Thursday, detectives with the Porterville Police Department’s Narcotics Unit went to a home in the 100 block of North Prospect Street to conduct a marijuana compliance check, the Porterville Police Department said.

During the check, Porterville resident Cecar Alcantar, 37, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana without a medical marijuana prescription, police said.

Detectives seized 170 marijuana plants and more than 75 pounds of processed marijuana, some of which was already packaged for sale, police said.

Alcantar was booked into Tulare County Jail; bail was set at $150,000.
