Madera man arrested for having marijuana, roosters for fighting
Madera County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 28-year-old man Aug. 18 on suspicion of growing marijuana and having roosters for fighting after serving a search warrant to investigate cock fighting activities.
Detectives searched a home in the 14000 block of Road 28 1/2 and found the resident, who was identified as Jovani Hernandez, raising roosters for fighting. Madera County Animal Services seized 21 roosters. Also found at the home were marijuana plants and a set of brass knuckles.
Hernandez was booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections. Charges are also expected to be filed against a woman who lives in the house.
