Fresno man arrested with gun near Roosevelt High School
A Fresno man was arrested with a loaded gun Wednesday morning near Roosevelt High School, the Fresno Police Department said.
An officer was in the area of Cedar and Tulare avenues just before 9 a.m., and he pulled over a vehicle for a minor violation.
The driver, Juan Brencio, 35, of Fresno, was found to not have a valid driver’s license.
One of the three passengers, later identified as Jose Garcia, 21, had given the officer a fake name, police said. He was found to have a loaded, unregistered handgun in his waistband.
All were found to be members of a street gang, police said.
Garcia was booked into Fresno County Jail on weapons charges.
