Police search for northwest Fresno carjackers

Fresno police are looking for two men involved in an early morning carjacking and collision Wednesday in northwest Fresno.

Officers responded to a hit and run crash at Roberts and Del Mar avenues, east of St. Anthony of Padua Church, around 4:10 a.m. where they found the victim who chased the suspects from his home in the 6300 block of North San Pablo Avenue.

The victim told police that he woke up to a loud bang in his front yard and looked out the window to see his trailer unhitched from his truck. When the man went outside to reattach the trailer, a white man walked up behind him, pointed a pistol to the back of his head and said, “We are going to take your trailer and truck,” Fresno police said.

The man lifted his hands and told the suspect not to shoot. A second suspect, described as a black man, attached the trailer to a Chevy Silverado truck. The victim pushed the white suspect who then jumped into the bed of the truck as it drove away.

The victim got into his truck and chased the suspects. He struck the rear of the suspect vehicle causing the driver to lose control and hit a parked vehicle before coming to a stop. The suspects fled on foot in opposite directions.

Anyone who can identify the suspects is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
