Fresno man indicted in failure to surrender for federal prison term
A federal grand jury on Thursday returned a one-count indictment against Leroy Donovan Combs, 75, of Fresno, charging him with failing to turn himself in to serve a federal prison sentence.
Combs, one of four people found guilty in November in a scheme to claim more than $33 million in federal tax refunds, was supposed to surrender himself on Aug. 11 to serve a sentence of three years and nine months. The U.S. Marshals Service arrested him on Monday.
If convicted on the count of failure to surrender, Combs faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, which would be served after his current sentence, and a $250,000 fine.
