A gang member was arrested Friday in southwest Fresno on weapons charges after officers spotted a handgun in his car during a traffic stop, Fresno police said.

Darren Coleman, 21, was driving around A and Mono streets when he failed to stop for a stop sign, Fresno police said. Officers pulled Coleman over near Ventura and Tupman streets, and Coleman got out of his car.

When Coleman reached over the driver’s seat to grab his driver’s license, officers saw a gun sticking out from under the seat, police said. The handgun was loaded and was reported stolen in 2015.

Coleman was booked into Fresno County Jail on several weapons charges.
