Suspect in deadly drive-by gang shooting arrested in Madera
A man suspected of being the driver in a recent drive-by shooting and murder was arrested Friday in Madera.
Madera police say Adam Diaz, 24, was the driver in the June 26 killing of Michael Sanchez in Madera. Diaz is a Norteño gang member with an extensive criminal record.
The man Diaz was driving during the shooting was Andrew Chavez, who was earlier arrested and charged with murdering Sanchez, police said. All the men were part of the Norteño gang, but on the day Sanchez was killed, he was wearing another gang’s colors, police said. Police believe Chavez mistook Sanchez for a rival gang member.
