Fake property owner arrested in rental scam
A man claiming to be a property owner has been arrested for taking money from potential renters, Visalia police said.
Nicholas Daniel Cardenas Vallez, 28, took rents and application fees from at least 11 victims, police said.
Property crimes detectives and the real estate fraud unit of the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office contacted the victims and the actual property owner to build the case.
Vallez was arrested Friday at his place of employment and booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility on several felony and misdemeanor charges.
