Police: Teens break into Fresno school concession stand, steal food

Six teens were taken to Fresno County Juvenile Hall after breaking into a concession stand at Fig Garden Elementary School in northwest Fresno, stealing food items, Sgt. Jordan Beckford said.

Around 1:22 a.m. Friday, Beckford said, an alarm company monitoring the campus heard voices and breaking glass coming from the concession stand.

After setting up a perimeter around the area, officers and a police dog entered the campus and saw the teens running away and jumping a fence into a nearby ponding basin.

When they were caught, officers found stolen property in the teens’ pockets and backpacks. Food items from the concession stand had been taken, Beckford said.

Metal poles and pipes were reportedly used to enter the concession stand. An estimated $1,000 in damage was caused.

The teens were charge with burglary and felony vandalism, Beckford said. Their identities were not released Friday due to their age.
