Deputies searching for suspect in Kettleman City homicide

Kings County sheriff’s deputies are searching for clues after finding a man shot to death Tuesday in a pomegranate orchard in Kettleman City.

Deputies responded to a shots fired call near the 400 block of Edwards Street around 9:45 p.m. They found a service truck stuck – still in drive – in a nearby culvert. Genaro Sandoval Alaniz, 44, of Kettleman City, was found dead in the driver’s seat, authorities said. Several gunshots had hit his truck.

The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is still in its infancy, and no motives or suspects have been identified. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 559-852-2720.
