Homeless woman shot in back in central Fresno

Fresno police are investigating after a 35-year-old homeless woman was shot in the back Saturday near Olive and Calaveras avenues in central Fresno.

Police said the shots were fired just before 6 p.m., and a building on the southwest corner of Olive and Calaveras was also hit. The woman was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with an injury that was not life-threatening.

Police believe the shooting may have been random and that the woman was not targeted.
