Fresno gang members return to scene of disturbance, are arrested
Fresno police arrested two gang members Friday afternoon after one was found to have a warrant, and the other was found to have a firearm while on probation.
Police said officers were called to the area of Modoc Street and O’Neill Avenue in southwest Fresno for a disturbance just before 2 p.m., but the suspects left the scene in a silver Scion. They returned a short time later while officers were still on the scene and were pulled over. Davante Ayers, 24, was found to be on probation for possession of a firearm, and the vehicle was searched. Officers located a loaded firearm, and Ayers was arrested on suspicion of violating his probation.
Daryl Jones, 29, was also booked into the Fresno County Jail for a felony burglary warrant, police said.
The “Felon with a Gun” program offers a $500 award for information that leads to firearm related arrests, and anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
