Three runaway teenagers used a large tractor to bust through the wall of a school building and steal sodas Sunday night, Fresno police said.

The break-in occurred about 10:30 p.m., when security officers monitoring the Central Unified School District building heard voices inside, Fresno police Sgt. Jordan Beckford said.

As they looked further, three male juveniles were seen running from the building, Beckford said.

A heavy tractor from a nearby construction site was used to smash into the building but was left behind. All three juveniles were taken into custody.

The teens are believed to be runaways from a local group home. Beckford said they stole soft drinks and portable radios.

Officers took the three to Fresno County Juvenile Hall. Beckford said they are being charged with burglary and felony vandalism.
