Gang shooting in southeast Fresno leaves man with injured leg

A 32-year-old man was struck in the leg Thursday night in a gang-related shooting in southeast Fresno, police said.

Officers went to Alta and Orange avenues, south of Ventura Avenue, around 10:36 p.m. and found the wounded man. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

Police Lt. Joe Gomez said the victim and a witness were driving north on Orange Avenue when they saw the suspect, 42, standing on the west side of the street in front of their residence. The suspect yelled the victim’s name as they parked the vehicle.

An argument ensued after the victim got out of the vehicle and confronted the suspect, Gomez said. The suspect fired a round in the air from a handgun.

The suspect then walked toward a Blue Buick Enclave SUV, looked back and fired toward the victim, striking him in the leg.

The vehicle SUV went south on Orange Avenue.
