A Visalia man was arrested Wednesday for the suspected murder of his girlfriend, Visalia police said.

Officers responded to the 3500 block of East Sycamore Avenue around 9:16 a.m. on July 1 for a medical aid call, Sgt. Damon Maurice said. An adult female was found dead inside the residence with minor visible injuries. Violent Crimes Detectives interviewed the victim’s live-in boyfriend, Andres Ybarra, 32, and additional family members.

The Tulare County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Wednesday and identified the victim as Ruby Lopez, 26, of Visalia. The cause of death was ruled as a homicide.

Detectives later arrested Ybarra at his job in downtown Visalia. He was interviewed and later booked in the Tulare County Jail for homicide.

The Violent Crimes Unit is asking for anyone who may have additional information to call Detective Mona Whaley at 559-713-4211.
