Pair flee hot prowl burglary when woman arrives home
Two males fled a hot prowl burglary Tuesday morning when a woman who lives at the house near First and Ventura streets arrived at the home, police reported.
The crime occurred in the 2900 block of East Gilbert Avenue about 11 a.m. Lt. Joe Gomez said a neighbor spotted the two suspects in their late teens or early 20s with dreadlocks jumping a fence to get into the backyard of the house and called police. Officers then learned that the pair might be involved in a home invasion robbery and sped to the neighborhood. Gomez said a man who lives in the home was asleep in the back of the house. The victim’s wife arrived home to find the suspects’ black Mustang in the driveway. The suspects forced open a bedroom window and were going through property when they were frightened off by the wife. They fled in the Mustang north on Callisch Avenue.
