Woman shot in west Fresno apartment

One woman was shot Wednesday night in West Fresno, Fresno Police Lt. Mindy Casto said.

The shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. at the Pioneer Village apartment complex, at 2072 N Marks Ave. Officers are still in their initial investigation, Casto said, and residents are still shaken by the incident.

Casto said an unknown suspect opened fire into an apartment at the complex, hitting one woman. She was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

One other person and child were in the apartment at the time, but were unharmed, Casto said.

The scene remains under investigation.
