Sheriff: Man caught on video stealing beer in Selma arrested

A man accused of robbery after being caught on video stealing beer and fighting with a clerk at a mini-mart in Selma has turned himself in, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Cody Mathers, 19, was booked into the Fresno County Jail on Tuesday after turning himself in to detectives on Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s Office said Mathers walked into Lee’s Market on Highland Avenue on May 31, where video surveillance shows him allegedly walking out with two 12-packs of Corona, tossing them in the back of a pickup and fighting with clerks when they tried to stop him. Mathers and the driver eventually drive off with the stolen beer.

Mathers is being held on robbery charges with a $25,000 bail.
