15-year-old Fresno gang member shot in southwest neighborhood
Fresno police are trying to identify a suspect after a teenage gang member was shot in southwest Fresno on Thursday night.
Officers responded to the area of Lorena and Bardell avenues around 10:30 p.m. after getting reports that someone had been shot.
When they arrived, officers found a 15-year-old boy suffering a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, but police said his injuries weren’t life-threatening.
The boy said he was shot by someone, and a witness saw a white Dodge Charger that left at a high rate of speed and headed east on Florence Avenue toward Martin Luther King Boulevard.
A 20-year-old man was on his way home when he saw the shooting. He began to back up his vehicle, and turned onto Weller Avenue. He told police he heard more shots and a bullet struck his vehicle.
The suspect is described as a man, 5 foot 7 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and khaki shorts.
Police said the boy was uncooperative with officers at the hospital and was reluctant to give information regarding the shooting.
