Fresno police: pair jailed who shot at girl, 2, and her uncle
Two men who shot at a parked car occupied by a 2-year-old girl and her uncle outside of a southwest Fresno market have been arrested, police said Wednesday.
The shooting on June 2 outside the Lucky Market on South Elm Avenue, near Church Avenue, was caught on surveillance video, which aided investigators in identifying the suspects, police said.
Neither the girl nor her uncle were injured.
After the shooting, the suspects fled in their car and police tried to pull them over but they sped away. A police helicopter then picked up the chase, allowing officers to eventually catch up with Javier Avila near Stanislaus and C streets. Avila is one of the suspected gunmen who was driving the vehicle.
On Wednesday, police arrested Luis Delgado and Ishmael Lopez while conducting surveillance in the 5000 block of East Lane Avenue in southeast Fresno. Delgado is the second suspected shooter, police said. Lopez was jailed on weapons charges.
